Mozambique hopes to strengthen cooperation with China in agriculture, energy and tourism, according to Prime Minister Alberto Vaquina.
Vaquina was speaking during a meeting Monday with Qi Xuchun, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Qi paid a four-day visit to the southeast African country that ended Tuesday.
Vaquina said the China-Mozambique relationship had enjoyed good development, adding Mozambique wanted to strengthen bilateral cooperation as it entered a new age of peace and development.
Qi said bilateral cooperation had expanded in a variety of areas and yielded fruit since the two countries forged diplomatic ties 38 years ago.
He said he expected China and Mozambique to continue to deepen pragmatic cooperation on the basis of the consensus reached at meetings between the two presidents earlier this year.
On May 13, Chinese President Xi Jinping met Mozambican President Armando Guebuza in Beijing. Xi urged the two countries to implement the key cooperation projects in infrastructure, energy, agriculture and fisheries.
Guebuza said at that time Mozambique welcomes more Chinese companies becoming involved in bilateral cooperation in the fields of human resources training, agriculture, energy and infrastructure to achieve common development of the two countries.
