BEIJING, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Puspa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, chairman of the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), on Thursday and pledged to boost cooperation.
Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said China attaches great importance to bilateral ties with Nepal, appreciates Nepal's adherence to the one-China policy and supports Nepal's efforts to achieve national progress and development.
China is ready to work together with Nepal to cement their neighborly friendship and boost reciprocal cooperation to further advance the two countries' comprehensive cooperative partnership, which features a permanent friendship, Xi said.
The China-Nepal friendship is not only in the fundamental interests of the two countries and peoples, but also conducive to stability and development in the region, he added.
In pursuit of common development, Xi said China will continue to seek peaceful development and win-win cooperation with Nepal and other neighboring countries.
During the meeting, Xi also said the CPC will increase exchanges with the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) and other major Nepalese political parties to further strengthen the friendship between the two sides.
Hailing the traditional friendship between the two nations, Prachanda thanked the Chinese side for its selfless assistance to Nepal.
He added that to bring the Nepal-China friendship to a higher level, he looks forward to more financial and technical support from China as well as more practical cooperation between the two sides on infrastructure, water conservancy projects and tourism.
Prachanda said Nepal will continue to firmly adhere to the one-China policy and he believes that the "Chinese dream" of national rejuvenation will be realized under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi as the general secretary.
