KUNMING/HARBIN, April 30-- Two separate forest fires that broke out in China's southwestern Yunnan Province and northeastern Heilongjiang Province on Tuesday have been put out, local authorities said on Wednesday.
A forest fire in Xiaguan Town in the city of Dali in Yunnan was extinguished by 8:10 a.m. Wednesday, the city's publicity department said.
A total of 1,120 firefighters tackled the blaze, which burned an area of more than 200 mu (about 13.3 hectares).
More than 3,400 firefighters, soldiers and three helicopters helped put out a fire in Woduhe forest in Nenjiang County, Heilongjiang, at 6 p.m. Tuesday, according to the provincial forest fire prevention and control department.
Investigations into the causes of the fires are under way.
