CHANGCHUN, April 2 -- A high-speed railway tunnel under construction in northeast China's Jilin Province collapsed early Wednesday, leaving 12 workers trapped inside, local authorities said.

The collapse happened at about 2 a.m. when workers were pouring concrete to reinforce the tunnel in Hunchun City.

An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
