The top bidder for the best stall at the Longtan Temple Fair in Beijing boasted of earning 160,000 yuan ($24,748) in profit from selling skewered mutton during the Spring Festival Day and the following holiday, the Beijing News reported.
The bidder surnamed Guo leased the stall at the fair for 162,000 yuan and also leased three other stalls before the long holiday.
Guo closed his business on the afternoon of the last day of the holiday, as businessmen at other stalls continued shouting for the last sale.
"All the mutton has been sold out, which is beyond my expectation," he said, estimating that his four stalls had sold nearly 6,000 strings of mutton.
Guo has done business at the temple fair for 11 years.
Longtan Temple Fair attracted the second biggest number of visitors this year, followed by the Ditan Temple Fair.
