Guo Shijun, 20, is a high school student in Lu'an city, southeastern China's Anhui province.
His father Guo Yishan fell off a bridge in an accident in June 2012, which resulted in paraplegia. His mother cannot take care of herself due to meningitis sequelae. Before the accident, his father supported the family as a farmer. Guo's sister studies in a university.
When the new semester began in September 2012, Guo decided to take his father with him. He rented a room close to the school which is about 20 kilometers away from home. His grandfather took care of his mother at home.
Every day, Guo needs to do lots of work. He has to prepare the meals, feed his father, turn his body over, and give him massage. Guo gets up at 5 a.m. and goes to bed nearly midnight. However, he is not overwhelmed by the heavy burden. He is a good student in the eyes of his teachers and classmates, and a good son in the eyes of the neighbors.
200 yuan of social relief fund per month is the family's only income, and the rent costs 300 yuan per month. Guo has borrowed nearly 60, 000 yuan for his father's surgery and the cost of living. The school has eliminated him all the expenses and made a donation to ease his pressure.
Guo has become more mature in the hard life. He believes that through his efforts, life will be better.
