CHANGSHA, Jan. 11 -- A female dolphin performance host at an aquarium in central China's Hunan Province was drowned after she fell into the attraction's dolphin performance pool, according to the aquarium management.
The woman surnamed Wang, a new recruit, was knocked into the pool by a huge wave stirred by a jumping dolphin she was touching at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Underwater World in the provincial capital of Changsha, said a manager with the aquarium.
She died at the scene despite medical efforts after workers found her and pulled her out of the water eight minutes later, the manager said.
The aquarium is communicating with Wang's family over responsibility cognizance and compensation issues, he added.
