China Post has become a laughing stock in the country, after a woman in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province was surprised to receive a mattress in the mail, after forgetting that she had placed the order online some two years ago.
Upon a closer look at the package, the woman surnamed Zheng realized that it was sent out on July 7, 2011 from Jiangmen, Guangdong Province.
She suddenly remembered that she had bought the folding bed for a colleague back then.
But when it came that summer, she failed to realize that the mattress was missing.
Probably not wanting to offend Zheng, her colleague never mentioned a missing mattress at the time.
A customer service employee at Wenzhou's post office said the cause of the exceptionally late delivery is currently under investigation.
Net users chided the State-owned China Post for its inability to keep up with private express services.
Net user Laoguan said, "Zheng's grandsons would be thanking the postman for delivering an antique if it had been delayed any longer."
Net user Dabaihua also teased China Post, sarcastically asking, "What exactly is the company's work pace?"
