MORE than 76 kilograms of drugs were seized in the bust of a large drug trafficking group on Friday, according to police in Zhaoqing city in southern Guangdong Province.
More than 70 kilograms of the depressant Ketamine, 2 kilograms of the dangerously addictive stimulant methamphetamine or ice, 4.2 kilograms of the hallucinogenic ecstasy, and more than 70,000 yuan (US$11,487) in cash and a car were seized.
Police also caught four suspects, local news portal Jxrb.com reported today.
The drug trafficking ring was under investigation and the ringleader, known as Sister Lan, had been tracked since July. On November 15, police caught two suspects at a toll station on a highway as they were ready to leave Huaiji town in a car with 20 kilograms of Ketamine and 1 kilogram of methamphetamine.
In the afternoon of the same day, two other suspects were caught in the town. One was Sister Lan, who later was confirmed to be surnamed Fu. Police found 49.5 kilograms of Ketamine, 1 kilogram of methamphetamine, 4.2 kilograms of ecstasy and 49 bottles of water with drugs in them.
