Chinese national held for trying to smuggle rosewood in south India

NEW DELHI, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- A 27-year-old Chinese national was arrested Monday for allegedly trying to smuggle 30 kg of rosewood at the airport in Chennai, capital of the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu, around 2,200 km from the capital.

The man named Hung Guoxing was found carrying the rosewood in his check-in luggage and was subsequently held by customs officials. The seizure was valued at around 800,000 Indian rupees (around 12,820 U.S. dollars).
