The pictures above were taken by a photographer of People’s Daily Online at the same location to record the air quality change in six successive days from Nov. 2 to Nov. 7, 2013.

Number of smoggy days in this year has reached a 52-year high, said an annual report on actions to address climate change jointly released by Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and China Meteorological Administration (CAS) on Monday.

China has reported 29.9 smoggy days so far this year, 10.3 days more than that of the same period in ordinary years, which are the highest number since 1961. The CASS-CAS climate change report also noted that China has seen smog with increasing frequency and duration over the past 50 years.
