Eight Chinese auxiliary police officers lost their jobs on Monday after causing a splash online with photographs showing them swimming naked in a tourist spot.
The public security bureau of Lushan County in central Henan Province said that the eight auxiliary police officers were sacked for "causing a negative impact on the image of the police."
The response came after photos circulated online showed eight nude men swimming in a river or standing on the shore, with their uniforms on the bank. Two police vehicles were parked nearby revealing their identities.
The netizen that posted the pictures online said the nude swim took place in a scenic spot in Lushan.
Police authorities in Lushan confirmed the police vehicles were used for patrols in the scenic spot.
Three superiors of the auxiliary police have also received penalties ranging from receiving a demerit or sacking, authorities said.
