One person was killed and at least 14 others were buried or went missing on Saturday after landslides brought by continuous rainfalls hit a county in central China's Hunan Province over the past two days, local authorities said.
The landslides that happened in several locations in Lanshan County also trapped more than 10 people, sources with the county's flood control office said.
Torrential rains battered the areas since Thursday, with rainfall monitored at some locations reaching nearly 400 mm.
Police and firefighters have been dispatched for the rescue.
The Lanshan government has initiated a top-level emergency response to handle the situation.
