CHENGDU, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Over 30 people were buried in a rainstorm-triggered landslide that occurred in southwest China's Sichuan Province Wednesday, local authorities said.
The landslide happened Wednesday morning in the village of Sanxi in the city of Dujiangyan, according to the publicity department of the Dujiangyan Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
An initial investigation showed that the landslide flattened 11 homes and buried at least 30 people, the department said, although the precise number of buried people is not yet known.
Villagers living near the area where the landslide occurred have been relocated.
Rescue efforts for the buried people are under way.
