A KIND-HEARTED bus driver who took an old man with diabetes to a hospital was found yesterday after a witness launched an online campaign to look for the Good Samaritan.

Bao Xiaohua, 35, who drives along the No. 224 route, saw a woman crying for help about 6:10pm on Saturday after the bus had just left the Ganquan Residential Complex stop in Putuo District. The man fainted and no one else attempted to help.

Bao got off the bus and carried the man on board. He then took the man to nearby Tongji Hospital.

"Every one should help and save others, especially we who work in the service industry."

Bao told Shanghai Daily. "I think anyone in the same situation would have helped the guy."

Bao apologized to passengers for the delay upon returning to the bus. They didn't complain about the delay as they were impressed with Bao's willingness to help.

"I was on the bus when he helped the patient," said a witness, surnamed Lu.

"Some other people tapped on the windows of the surrounding cars at the time and asked them to take the man to a hospital, but no one else was willing to help," Lu said.

"He made me believe that there are many nice people around us." Lu added.

The man, who is an inpatient in Tongji Hospital, fainted on his way back to the hospital after having dinner with his wife.

A colleague said Bao started work at the company in December.

"He is always willing to help others," the colleague said.
