There have been several recent media reports on China's first nuclear submarine detachment. Pictures disclosed to the media show drills taking place inside Chinese nuclear submarines for the first time. When interviewed by media, the military expert Yin Zhuo said that China's nuclear submarine fleet had recently made a non-stop voyage of 90 days and nights, setting a record for a single voyage of long duration among nuclear submarines worldwide, and confirming the technical reliability of China's nuclear submarine technology.

In the 1970s, a special group coded 09 emerged, which is China's fleet of nuclear submarines. A counter-attack force against aggression by foreign powers, this fleet recently made a continuous voyage of 90 days and nights, thus setting a new record for a single voyage of long duration among nuclear submarines worldwide. As a strategic ”iron fist“ of the Chinese military, the fleet has an initial nuclear deterrence and counterattack capability. It has guaranteed nuclear safety for 42 years, and no nuclear accident has ever occurred.

On the matter of this 90-day voyage, Yin Zhuo said that firstly, this demonstrated the reliability of China's nuclear submarine technology. During the 90 days, the submarines performed combat and defensive maneuvers at sea, and never lay close to any wharf. Any problems that were encountered were resolved through self-maintenance and self-repair while at sea.

In addition, the long-term voyage was also a serious test for our submarine crews. Yin Zhuo said that around-the-clock long-term voyages and a 90-day stay at sea represented a serious physical and psychological challenge for the crew. However, the crew succeeded in responding to the challenge. Every vessel stood up to the test.
