BEIJING, October 30 (ChinaMil) -- Gen. Hou Shusen, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), held talks with Gen. Juan Miguel Fuente Alba, the visiting commander-in-chief of the Chilean Army, on the morning of October 29, 2013 at the Diaoyutai State Guest House in Beijing.

Hou Shusen extended his welcome to Alba and his party for their visit to China. He said that the relations between the Chinese and Chilean militaries have been maintaining a good momentum of stable development in recent years, as evidenced by increasingly deepened cooperation in such fields as reciprocal visits of delegations and groups, professional exchanges, personnel training and so on.

The Chinese side attaches importance to developing the relations between the two militaries and is willing to make joint efforts with the Chilean side to further expand fields of bilateral cooperation, so as to constantly push forward the military-to-military relations.

Alba said that Chile will have increasingly closer contacts with the Asia-Pacific region in the 100 years to come.

The Chilean Army is willing to be actively involved in this process and further expand and deepen its friendly exchanges and cooperation with the Chinese military, so as to promote the development of bilateral military relations.

The two sides also exchanged views on other issues of common concern.

Before the talks, Hou Shusen held a welcome ceremony for Alba and accompanied him to review the guard of honor of the PLA Army.

Alba and his party came to pay an official goodwill visit to China from October 27 to November 2 at the invitation of the General Staff Headquarters (GSH) of the PLA.
