Two Chinese taskforces conduct drill in West Pacific

WEST PACIFIC, October 30 (ChinaMil) -- The naval taskforce of the North China Sea Fleet under the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLAN), which has concluded its visits to three countries of the U.S., Australia and New Zealand, held a nighttime actual-troop confrontation drill in the waters of the West Pacific Ocean on the night of October 28, 2013 with the other naval taskforce of the North China Sea Fleet, which had participated in the "Maneuver - 5" exercise of the PLAN.

The "Red Army" of the drill was composed of the guided missile destroyer "Qingdao" and the guided missile frigate "Linyi", while the "Blue Army" was made up of the guided missile destroyer "Shijiazhuang", the guided missile destroyer "Shenyang" and the guided missile frigate "Yantai", which had participated in the "Maneuver-5" exercise of the PLAN.

The actual-troop confrontation drill formally kicked off in the nightfall at 19:00.

During the nearly two hours of drill, the two taskforces carried out the drill on such subjects as the military strength echelon configuration, independent search of targets, fast approach to the "enemy" by each individual ship under cover, simulated guided missile attacks and so on in accordance with the meteorological condition of the maritime zone as well as the characteristics of the military strength.
