BEIJING, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- The anchoring of China's first aircraft carrier, the Liaoning, at its homeport has nothing to do with the regional situation, a military spokesman said on Thursday.
The carrier's homeport was chosen based on the building of the People's Liberation Army Navy and the development of the Liaoning as well as other relevant conditions, said Ministry of National Defense spokesman Geng Yansheng.
The Liaoning anchored for the first time at its homeport in Qingdao, east China's Shandong Province on Wednesday.
