BEIJING, Feb. 19 -- A senior leader of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Liu Yunshan has called for improvements to the Party's scientific, democratic and lawful governance of the country.
Liu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks Wednesday at a seminar attended by principal officials at provincial and ministerial levels.
The seminar which began on Monday, focuses on the comprehensive advancement of the reform of the Party building system, as demanded by the third plenary session of the 18th Central Committee of the CPC.
"Great efforts should be made to push forward Party management and boost the Party's competency in leadership and governance in order to realize the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation," Liu said.
According to Liu, reform of the Party building system is a key part of comprehensive reform and directly affects the realization of the overall goals.
Liu noted that the reform aims to improve the Party's leadership and consolidate its reign, stressing governance in political, ideological and organizational realms.
"Party organizations and members should participate in reform in a voluntary and innovative fashion... and talent brave enough to shoulder responsibilities and tackle difficulties should be used," Liu said, urging an effective, convenient and feasible official selection and appointment mechanism.
In addition, Liu called for an improved official management system to curb decadent behavior and urged development of Party organizations at grassroots levels.
