BEIJING, Dec. 31 -- China's leaders on Tuesday morning celebrated New Year 2014 with political advisors in Beijing.

President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang, and five other senior officials of the Communist Party of China Zhang Dejiang, Yu Zhengsheng, Liu Yunshan, Wang Qishan and Zhang Gaoli attended a tea party held by the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top political advisory body.

Xi delivered a speech at the gathering, noting that China will stick to reform, innovation and progress while maintaining stability in 2014.

China will unswervingly move close to goals set at the Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee, according to Xi.

The central government will continue to uphold "One Country, Two Systems" and maintain long-term stability and prosperity in Hong Kong and Macao, Xi said.

Chinese people, together with people from all countries, will make unremitting efforts to promote the lofty undertaking of peace and development of humanity, the president added.

He said that China will unite the wisdom and strength of the people and turn the blueprint into reality, ensuring that all people enjoy the fruits of reform and development.

Noting that 2014 will be the 65th anniversary of the CPPCC, the president asked for consensus and positive energy to push forward reform.

Non-Communist parties and people without party affiliation should be mobilized to participate in and support reform, Xi added.
