Reform highlighted in China's key session: expert

Only by deepening reform can China solve the contradictions and inject new vigor to its social and economic development, said Ma Qingyu, a professor with the Chinese Academy of Governance on Friday.

The full text of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee's decision on major issues concerning comprehensively deepening reforms was issued Friday, providing a roadmap for China's further development.

In an interview with People's Daily Online, several experts talked about this 60-detailed-target reform roadmap.

The key decisions highlight the Party’s emphasis on reform. At the same time we enjoy the fruits and big changes that the three-decade reform and opening up brought us, we still face many challenges accumulated during this process. In order to keep the sustainable social and economic development and continue to enjoy the reform dividend we must reform, said Ma Qingyu, a professor with the Chinese Academy of Governance.

Economic reform is the core of all the reforms mentioned in this 60-detailed-target reform roadmap. China still needs to improve its management of the relationship between government and market. In order to obey the market economic rules and let the invisible hand play a decisive role, the key session reaches the following agreement on government’s role: first, to maintain the stability of macro economy; second, to provide premium service; third, to guarantee fair competition at market,said Wang Tongsan, an economist with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, a government thinktank.
