BEIJING, Sept. 28 -- The top disciplinary arm of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Saturday named and shamed a series of cases of officials' decadence, as part of a major campaign to promote righteous life and work style.

With titles but not the names of violators, cases revealed in a statement posted on the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI)'s official website mostly involved using public fund to travel, hold banquets and buy high-end festival gifts.

Officials involved ranged from deputy head of a people's procuratorate at the provincial level to school principals, said the statement, adding that punishments handed to them ranged from warnings to sackings.

The statement came after an eight-point rule introduced at a meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee at the end of last year with the aim to fight bureaucracy and formalism and reject extravagance among Party members.

Figures from the CCDI show that a total of 13,999 officials have been dealt with as of the end of August for style violations, 2,814 of whom have received punishment of various degrees.
