BEIJING, Aug. 19 -- China's top legislature decided on Monday to consider a series of draft laws and amendments later this month, including the draft asset appraisal law.

The draft asset appraisal law aims to regulate appraisal services and protect the legal rights of clients.

The National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee will convene a bimonthly session from Aug. 26 to 30, according to a decision made at Monday's meeting presided over by top legislator Zhang Dejiang and attended by the NPC Standing Committee's vice chairpersons.

Under the agreed agenda, the bimonthly session will also include deliberation on the amendments to trademark law and consumer protection law.

Monday's meeting did not reveal details on how the laws would be changed.

Reports on budget implementation, infectious disease prevention and control, enforcement of renewable energy law, and the State Council's progress in implementing this year's national economic and social development plan will also be examined at the meeting, according to the agenda.

Two amendments to the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) listing nine new POPs and endosulfan, an insecticide, will also be reviewed for approval, according to the agenda.
