Chinese president appoints seven new ambassadors

BEIJING, March. 13 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao has appointed seven new ambassadors to foreign countries, according to a statement from the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Wednesday.

Hu made the appointments in line with decisions made by the Standing Committee of the NPC, China's top legislature.

Yang Guoqiang was appointed ambassador to Latvia, replacing Hu Yeshun.

Yang Zigang was appointed ambassador to Suriname, replacing Yuan Nansheng.

Pan Weifang was appointed ambassador to Slovak, replacing Gu Ziping.

Yan Banghua was appointed ambassador to Uruguay, replacing Qu Shengwu.

Wu Chuntai was appointed ambassador to Nepal, replacing Yang Houlan.

Yang Houlan was appointed ambassador to Myanmar, replacing Li Junhua.

Li Li was appointed ambassador to Mauritius, replacing Bian Yanhua.
