The Chinese character "rong", a word that generally means "bright, melt, and harmonious", has been selected as the character of the year for 2014 in Hong Kong.
Organized by Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong (DAB), the largest political organization in Hong Kong, the selection has received a total of 7,385 recommendations, of which 6,755 were valid ones. More than 2,000 middle school sent their recommendations, expressing the youth's hope for 2014.
