Beijing, Sept. 24 (People's Daily Online) -- An "Earth Ceremony" accompanied by the Beijing International Chamber Orchestra was held in the courtyard of Australian Embassy in Beijing on the evening of Sept. 23, 2013.

The event was a reception to launch Australian artist Matthew Joscelyne's multimedia art installation project: "Beijing Green" and to support his participation in this year's Beijing Design Week. The centerpiece of the event was a 2-meter lit sphere accompanied by a multimedia light show on the walls of the Embassy chancery.

Beijing Green is a project conveying an environmental awareness message. As a citywide art installation produced for the people of Beijing, Beijing Green paints China's capital green with the latest 3D LED technology. This installation not only provides a voice to the environmental issues facing Beijing, but helps people think about what they can do to create a greener world, a healthy environment and a more sustainable future for generations to come.

Frances Adamson, Australian Ambassador to China, Sun Qun, deputy director of the general office of 2013 Beijing Design Week Committee, and Matthew Josceylene, the founder and CEO of Beijing Green, attended the reception.

The 2013 Beijing Design Week will be officially opened on Thursday this week at China Millennium Monument in Beijing. The event will last till Oct. 3. This year's Beijing Design Week consists of seven main sections, namely the Opening Ceremony, Beijing Design Awards, Theme Exhibitions, Design Forum, Guest City and Beijing Design Fair.
