Yang Chan, exhibition planner, National Geographic Magazine, said, "We want to use the Dali International Photography Exhibition as a platform to showcase the best pictures for the 125th anniversary of our magazine, and let visitors learn more about our beautiful works."

The 170 images cover six categories, from nature to humanity. The magazine’s one out of a thousand selection ratio has made it one of the world’s top image agencies.

French press agency SIPA has also brought two series of works to the exhibition. "Meditation" is made up of 50 pictures shot during 2008 and 2013, featuring the lives of ordinary people in times of war and peace. While "Love in France" focuses on French life during the 1930s and 40s.

What’s more, works by female photographers from South Asia and the Middle East have also made their debuts in the ancient Chinese town.

In addition, 100 volunteers have been on hand to guide people through the town to venues, lectures and other planned activities.
