Nanhaizi Park is a small trip south of downtown Beijing to Daxing District. It was a huge informal landfill for domestic waste and construction waste and fell into disuse over the years. But in 2010, according to the ecological protection requirements, Beijing made the overall ecological renovation for abandoned pool, wasteyard, water and soil of Nanhaizi district, and redeveloped it into an extensive park and nature reserve. The park today encompasses lakes, ponds, waterways, grasslands and marsh. Picturesque bridges, pagodas and sculptures are sprinkled throughout.
