YORK, England, Dec. 4 -- Ding Junhui's amazing winning streak of 22 consecutive victories was snapped here on Wednesday as he lost 6-4 to England's Ricky Walden in the last 16 of the snooker UK Championship.
Ding, the fourth seed, had won three ranking tournaments in a row at Shanghai Masters, Indian Open and the International Championship. He also rose in the world rankings from 11th to a career high third.
But his winning run of 22 matches is still remarkable in the snooker history, only Stephen Hendry's 31 is more than that.
Walden, 31, has only two ranking title to his belt but proved better in the match, leading Ding 5-3, 5-4 en route to the victory and a quarterfinal berth.
