The 27th Southeast Asia Games in Nay Pyi Taw brought many medals to Myanmar Wushu talents as the sport's final day saw the hosts on top of the table with five golds, five silvers and five bronzes.

Back in Indonesia SEA Games in 2011, Myanmar only won a gold, a silver and a bronze in the martial art.

"We only got three medals in last SEA Games. But now we achieved 15, being the champion of Wushu in this SEA Games. Training in China helps us win a haul of medals, and we have four Chinese coaches with us," U Khin Soe, Myanmar Wushu Federation's joint secretary told Xinhua.

He added that some of his athletes should have gained more golds if they did not make careless mistakes.

Changquan coach Zhang Zhongxin said the quality of the performance depends on the basic principle that the coach instructs the performers initially.

"Myanmar is good at Wushu's Taolu events because of their way of training. While Myanmar is very good at Taolu, Sanshou is where Myanmar athletes generally find themselves weak," he said.
