Maya Moore, nicknamed "invincible queen" by basketball fans, arrived at Taiyuan International Airport for 2013-14 Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) season here on Monday.
Last season, Moore led promoted Shanxi to record a 10-game winning streak in regular season, and brought away the title at last, writing a new chapter in WCBA history. She averaged 37.3 points, 12.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 3.5 steals and 1.3 blocks during the whole season.
"I'm excited to get going on again. It's gonna be a really tough, tough year, a lot of competition for every team," Moore said.
In October, Moore helped Minnesota Lynx sweep Atlanta Dream in Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) finals, winning their second title in the past three years. Moore was awarded the Finals MVP with averaging 20 points, six rebounds and two assists.
"An awesome year. Everyone on the team is great, and play very, very well," she said.
Is defending WCBA title Moore's goal for the new season?
"It's a new year. It's gonna be much harder. I will help my teammates and coaches take one game at a time," she shrugged off the topic on defending champion.
Moore is set to prepare with her teammates, among which are new faces, for the new WCBA season later.
