Chinese women weightlifter Zhang Wanqiong won the 53kg division at the 6th East Asian Games (EAG) with two new games records here on Monday.
Zhang posted 124kg in clean and jerk and totaled 219kg to break the respective record of 122kg and 218kg.
The EAG will be changed into the East Asian Youth Games in 2019, making Zhang's new games marks set on Monday "everlasting records".
"Really? I've no idea of it," said the 19-year-old.
Chinese Shen Yinyi, being troubled with injuries in her wrist and back, under-performed in the women's 63kg division and took a bronze medal with 205kg. The gold went to Jong Chun Mi of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, who took advantage of less body weight to beat Namkhaidorj Bayarmaa of Mongolia into second place.
"I'm not happy with the result," said Shen.
The other title for the day belonged to Kuo Hsing Chun of Chinese Taipei, whose 135kg in clean and jerk and 237kg in total were also the new EAG records. Chen Guiming of China came second with a total of 227kg.
