BEIJING, Oct. 5 (People's Daily Online) -- China's top player Li Na was dumped out 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 by former Wimbledon winner Petra Kvitova in the quarterfinals of the on-going China Open tennis tournament here on Friday.
The home favorite has twice reached the semifinals of the China Open, and looked set for her third appearance when she took the first set by breaking Kvitova's serve in the final game. But Kvitova pulled clear, winning the final four games.
Beijing's National Tennis Centre erupted when Li saved a match point when she was losing 3-5, but she failed to save a second in the following game.
Kvitova will next face former world No. 1 Jelena Jankovic in the semifinals.
