The fifth seed Li Na from China breezed into 2013 U.S. Open second round after beating Olga Govortsova of Belarus 6-2, 6-2 on Monday.

It only took the 31-year-old veteran 64 minutes to finish the match and Li outperformed Govortsva almost in every item except serving on the statistics report after match.

The two players had met each other for three times before Monday's match, and Li had never lost to Govortsova.

"After winning the match everything for me was good at least," said Li. "Always tough match firth match because you never know what happen on the court."

Li powered her forehand and backhand stroked perfectly to make a 4-0 lead in the opening set. The world number six player took down two out of her first three break points to keep Govortsova at love until the fifth set, in which the 25-year-old Belorussian finally kept her serve.

Li was unable to break in the rest part of the first set, but the 4-0 was enough for her to end the first set 6-2. The second set began with the 3-1 lead for Li. Govortsva struggled to hold her serving games, but Li managed to break for the fourth time in the seventh game to wrap up the victory with another 6-2.

Li was kept out of the finals gate both in Toronto and Cincinnati, but she was confident of her play style.

"I mean, was pretty good, because at least in the summer I have two semis in hard court, when hard court season starts," Li said.

"So I was really happy the way I was hit the ball on the court, so I just try to continue."

Li will next face the winner between Petra Cetkovska and Sofia Arvidsson.
