Boosting consumption of IT products and services may sound like a new term, but it’s actually very close to our daily lives buying mobile phones, computers and various apps are all information-related consumption. Information products mainly include smart phones, PCs, tablets and smart TVs.
Last year, China’s information-related consumption volume has exceeded 1.7 trillion yuan or nearly 280 billion US dollars. That’s a jump of nearly 30 percent year on year and represents 3.3 percent of annual GDP.
The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development has estimated that between 2008 to 2012, global demand for information products and services has increased from 3.6 trillion US dollars to 4.4 trillion US dollars, and its contribution to global GDP has grown from 5.9 percent to 6.1 percent.
