U.S. technology giant IBM announced on Thursday that it has purchased Israeli data security company Trusteer in its biggest acquisition deal in the Jewish country, Globes economic daily reported.

According to the report, the price of the purchase is estimated at 630 million U.S. dollars in addition to tens of millions of dollars' salary payment to Trusteer's employees.

IBM will also set up an Israeli software lab where 200 engineers will conduct research and development on mobile device security apps and cloud-delivered security solutions.

"Trusteer's experience and superior technology in enterprise endpoint defense and advanced malware prevention will help our clients across all industries address the constantly evolving threats they are facing," IBM said in a statement.

"Together with IBM's capabilities in advanced threat detection, analysis and remediation, we will now be able to offer our clients several additional layers of defense against sophisticated attackers," it added.

Last month, U.S. chip-manufacturer Intel purchased Israeli interactive software start-up Omek Interactive for nearly 50 million dollars.

Two months ago, Internet search giant Google purchased Israeli map-based navigation app Waze reportedly for 1.3 billion dollars.
