(Mai Runtian) Co., Ltd launched the official opening ceremony of its Hong Kong branch at Harbour Grand Hong Kong on Tuesday.

Liao Hong, president and editor-in-chief of Co., Ltd, said in his speech that setting up a branch in Hong Kong is an important step of the company's globalization strategic layout. This move aims at building as the first-class website in the world.

Liao noted, Hong Kong is the world's financial and trade center, also the world's information and wisdom center. Hong Kong gathers elites and has ideas and initiatives for the Chinese mainland and the world to learn from.

He mentioned that to set up a branch in Hong Kong is to build a network bridge between the mainland and Hong Kong. Co., Ltd is determined to actively serve the community of Hong Kong, hoping to be a new window to present Hong Kong to the mainland and the world.

The event was attended by more than 200 guests from politics, business and the press, such as Legislative Council president of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Jasper Tsang Yok-sing, Secretary for Home Affairs of HKSAR Tsang Tak Sing, and director-general of the publicity, culture and sports department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR Hao Tiechuan.

The company's IPO in Shanghai on April 27, 2012 made it become China's first major State-owned news website to list on the A-share market.

Besides Hong Kong, the company has set up 29 branches in the mainland, and subsidiaries in Tokyo, New York, San Francisco, Seoul, London, Moscow, Johannesburg, and Sydney.
