MANILA, May 3 -- A Chinese national was killed and another was hurt in a shootout Friday night in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippine police confirmed Saturday night.
Manila Police District (MPD), the first responder on the incident, said that certain Chen Li-jun was declared dead on arrival at Manila Doctors' Hospital while Zhi Ji Zhao, who sustained gunshot wound on the left knee, was still being treated in the same facility.
Initial investigation disclosed that the two Chinese tourists were riding a black vehicle being driven by one of their two Taiwanese companions on their way to a hotel along Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City when the suspects fired at them at around 11:30 p.m. local time along Layug Street, Pasay City.
MPD has turned over the investigation to Pasay Police since the area where the incident took place was under the latter's jurisdiction.
Police have yet to determine the motive of the incident and have launched manhunt operation against the suspects.
