Search continues with nothing found by Bluefin 21: JACC

PERTH, Australia, April 22 -- A total of 10 aircraft and 10 ships will assist in Tuesday's search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, and Bluefin 21 has completed its mission nine with nothing found, the Joint Agency Coordination Center ( JACC) confirmed on Tuesday. "Bluefin-21 is currently completing mission nine in the underwater search area," the JACC confirmed in its latest update. To date, Bluefin-21 has searched approximately two thirds of the focused underwater search area, but"no contacts of interest have been found to date", the JACC said.

The focused underwater search area is defined as a circle of 10 km radius around the second Towed Pinger Locator detection which occurred on 8 April.

In addition, 10 military aircraft and 10 ships will join in Tuesday's search. The Australian Maritime Safety Authority Tuesday has planned a visual search area totaling approximately 49, 491 square kilometres. The centre of the search area lies approximately 1,584 kilometres north west of Perth.

The weather forecast for Tuesday is for scattered showers to continue with south easterly winds, sea swells up to three metres and visibility of four kilometres.
