A massive explosion caused by gas leak has demolished two buildings in East Harlem, New York, on the morning of March 12, killing two women and injuring dozens.
Police and firefighters rushed to the scene and immediately searched among rubbles and debris, making sure no one was trapped underneath.
Con Edison, the utility company, said they received a call at around 9:13 am about gas odor. The explosion then occurred 15 minutes later.
The collapsed buildings had 15 total apartment units. One had six apartment units, the other nine.
