MADRID, Feb. 3 -- A Chinese woman was shot and killed in what appears to have been an attempted robbery in a shop in the Spanish capital of Madrid, Spanish emergency services said Monday.
The 40-year-old, who worked in the shop in the east of the city, was killed on Sunday afternoon after being shot in the head.
The suspected assailant ran from the scene, but was arrested by Spanish police around half an hour after the murder.
He is reported to have resisted arrest, slightly injuring three police officers in the process before being taken into police custody.
Other witnesses said that the presumed killer entered the shop wearing a hood and with his face covered and after the shooting he ran out of the building carrying the till.
Police suspect robbery was the motive for the crime.
The victim's 7-year-old son, also a witness to his mother's death, has been receiving psychological help, along with her husband.
