BANGKOK, Feb. 2 -- Thai First Army Area deployed troops to watch over 10 district offices in capital Bangkok during general election on Sunday.

The 10 districts include Sai Mai, Don Mueang, Bang Kapi, Wang Thonglang, Lak Si, Bang Na, Bang Bon, Suan Luang, Min Buri and Bueng Koom.

Thailand's general election kicked off at 8 a.m. local time Sunday, amid concerns of possible violence and bloodshed due to disruption from anti-government protesters.

Some 165 policemen from Chiang Mai are guarding around caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinwatra's residence in front of the polling station inside Hor Lamchiak School, where Yingluck cast her vote.
