BEIRUT, Oct. 21 -- Four rockets fired from Syria landed in various parts of eastern Lebanon on Monday afternoon, without reporting any casualties.
A Lebanese security source told Xinhua that the rockets landed in populated areas of Hermel town in the Bekaa valley, mainly populated by Shiite residents.
Syrian rebels have targeted Hermel various times during their rebellion against the regime of President Bashar al-Assad, as the Lebanese town is considered to be a stronghold of Hezbollah, a strong ally of the Syrian regime.
Hermel was previously targeted by the Syrian rebels on April 15, May 12 and 19, July 8 and Aug. 19, which left three Lebanese citizens killed and 12 others injured.
Lebanon's President Michel Suleiman lamented rockets fired from feuding parties in Syria that hit Lebanese territories, and sent a memo to the Arab League and the United Nations stressing on respecting Lebanon's sovereignty and neutralizing the border region from all military activities that harm innocent citizens.
