A 7.8-magnitude earthquake jolted Pakistan at 7:29 p.m. Tuesday (Beijing Time), according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.
The epicenter, with a depth of 40 km, was at 27.0 degrees north latitude and 65.5 degrees east longitude, the center said in a statement.
Readings from the U.S. Geological Survey put the quake at 7.4 magnitude, with a depth of 22.94 km.
