TEHRAN, June 2 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Intelligence Ministry announced Sunday that it has disbanded a terror cell tasked with conducting sabotage activities on presidential election day in Iran, semi-official Fars news agency reported.

The Ministry said in a statement that it has managed to identify and arrest all members of the terror cell after finding traces and gathering accurate information about the cell's activities and mission, according to the report.

The head of the terrorist cell had been recruited by the spy agency of an unidentified Arab country and later contacted the Israeli spy agency Mossad after travelling to Israel, the statement said, adding that he later formed a 12-member team to conduct sabotage and terrorist activities in Iran, especially during the upcoming election day on June 14.

According to Iran's Interior Ministry, nearly 50.5 million eligible Iranians will vote for eight candidates, dominated by conservatives, in the upcoming presidential election.
