A general restoration plan for the ancient town of Dukezong which caught fire in January has been issued, Huang Zhenghong, head of Deqen Tibetan Autonomous Region, said recently. According to the plan, which is worth 1.2 billion yuan (196 million U.S. dollars), all affected residences in the town will be fixed by the end of 2014 and the whole project is expected to be finished within three years. Dukezong, eastablished more than 1,300 years ago, is known for its Tibetan-style architectures. The fire that broke out in January burnt nearly a fifth of the ancient town's core preservation area.
