Mubarak embarks on trip to Washington

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak left Cairo Thursday morning on his way to the United States for a six-dayofficial visit during which he will hold talks with US President George W. Bush, the official MENA news agency reported.

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak left Cairo Thursday morning on his way to the United States for a six-day official visit during which he will hold talks with US President George W. Bush, the official MENA news agency reported.

Mubarak will stop in London before resuming his trip to Washington on Friday.

The Mubarak-Bush talks will focus on the deteriorating situationin the occupied Palestinian territories and Iraq in addition to bilateral relations.

On his way back home, Mubarak will visit Germany and France for talks with leaders of the two countries on the latest developments in the region.

Mubarak is accompanied by Secretary General of the National Democratic Party (NDP) and Information Minister Safwat el-Sherif, Minister of Foreign Trade Youssef Boutros Ghali, and his political advisor Osama el-Baz.
