NBA star Yao Ming has plunged to an all-time low after the fading Houston Rockets suffered its longest losing streak, five games in a row, during this year's regular season.

The battle-ready Golden State Warriors defeated the sputtering Rockets 97-90 in Oakland, putting Huston on the losing end for their fifth straight game.

Yao Ming scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds before fouling out with one minute left.

Nine years removed from their last NBA championship, the Rockets could not muster the effort to beat a team that has missed the playoffs the past 10 years.

After Tuesday's humiliation, Houston still clings to seventh place in the Western Conference playoff race, leading eighth-place Utah by a slim margin of one and a half games.
