Yao Ming to appear in painting

A Chinese organization recently invited a U.S sports artist to paint China's biggest sports star, Houston center Yao Ming. The work is due to be finished next week.

A Chinese organization recently invited a US sports artist to paint China's biggest sports star, Houston center Yao Ming. The work is due to be finished next week.

The work will show the giant figure on court during the NBA match between the Denver Nuggets and the Rockets and is due to be finished next week.

The artist has previously painted such American sports stars as Lakers' center Shaquille O'Neal and Kevin Garnett of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The painter admitted that he faced a difficulty in that he had to prepare the longest piece of canvas he has ever used to match Yao Ming's stature; the Chinese player is even six inches taller than O'Neal.
